Doubling

Today there were 22 residents in a 49 resident care home sick with covid.  Now staff are getting sick too.  One would think that isolating the sick ones and only have certain workers work with the covid patients would keep the well ones from getting sick but this is not how they are doing things.  The have isolated all the residents in their rooms, visitors are not allowed to visit right now and whatever staff is there works with all residents whether they have covid or not and this is exactly why more of them are getting sick.

The only good thing about this is that most of them are not getting really sick most likely due to being triple vaccinated.  Only a couple have been admitted to the hospital and so far none have died.  That is a win for sure.

Staff is told if they test positive for covid but feel fine they can come to work!  Yup, the powers that be are more afraid of not having enough staff to care for the residents than they are of any of them getting sick or dying.  Can you imagine if a worker brings covid home to his or her family and one of those family members died from it?  Yup that is our situation.  We are now isolated totally from all our family and friends for fear of passing the virus on to one of them and testing for covid is not recommended unless you have symptoms.  In fact if you are not a health care worker and have symptoms you are told to self isolate and assume you have covid.  Unless you need medical care stay home for a minimum of 5 days.

I hope we are moving on to a more flu like virus and the days of people needing hospitalization are passing but it seems the hospitals are still full of people with covid fighting for their lives.  It's the worry of not knowing if you will be one who sails through it or one who needs a ventilator because there is no way to know until you get sick.  I've done what I can for myself and my family is vaccinated now all we can do is hope for the best.  Hopefully the stress and worry doesn't kill me before the covid gets me!  LOL!
