I hear sirens going all day long, several times a day or more. It's unnerving on good days but recently I've been paying attention and I think I'm hearing them more often. I really hope not because sirens mean trouble for someone.
We live close to the hospital, we can actually see it from our front door up the mountain from us. My husband walks to work every day because we live that close. I doubt I'll ever get used to the sound of the sirens though. For a time I was able to tune them out and ignore them but with this pandemic it's quieter. There are fewer cars on the road and a siren stands out as a warning.
I know I'm probably just being dramatic about the sirens but they do jar me every time I hear them now. I wonder if it's an accident or someone with covid-19 struggling to breath. I hope it's not the latter of the two although both are not something you wish on anyone.
Today I decided the sirens would be a reminder for me to stop and say a prayer for everyone and to be reminded that so far my loved ones are safe and healthy. From now on each siren I hear I will think of a group of people and say a little silent thank you to them for continuing to do their jobs for the rest of us to eat and live comfortably.
Who would think that the sound of a siren could remind me to be thankful and hope for the future?
I hope you are all staying healthy and finding some joy in your days of staying home or working safely.
Stay healthy.
