Yesterday was a very interesting day. I'm just sitting at home minding my own business when I hear something outside. I looked on my security camera cause I'm too lazy to get up and look out the window and I notice the plywood that boarded up the door of the burned out house next to us has been removed. So this means I have to get off my lazy butt and go see what is going on cause I'm snoopy like that.
I see two young guys who do not own the property walking around. It's 5pm in the daytime and now the burned out house is not secure. The plywood that was nailed on to the front and back doors has been removed. I don't want that house open for people to come and squat in or shoot up in. That house is 20 feet from my house and sits right on my backyard property line so up I get to make a phone call to the police.
I report that someone has just recently stolen the plywood off the house and now the house is not secure. They came quickly and didn't find the two who did it but I knew it was the guy who lives on the other side of the burned out house. They did go over to that house which is a well know drug house. They talked to the people who of course know nothing. The police tell us the owner will be notified that the property is not secured as it should be. There are lots of young kids who ride their bikes around here and that house is not safe so I'd hate to have one of them go in there and get hurt.
About 15 min after the police leave my husband comes home from work and I tell him the story. A few minutes later we see a black truck pull up in front of the drug house. My husband looks out and see the kid and some guy loading the plywood into the back of his truck!!! So the husband runs out there and takes a couple of pictures. Unfortunately they saw him but really stealing a couple pieces of plywood won't get them in much trouble. I'm more concerned about the house next door being a squat house or having kids hang out in it now that it's open.
The husband called the police back and told them what he saw. They came back and talked to the people in the house but of course they know nothing. The husband shows the cop the picture of the two guys and the cop recognizes the older guy and says he knows where this guy lives. So the cop then goes to this guys house and waits outside. I'm sure nothing will come of this but the cop did say that the property owner was going to come secure the house today. It's now 3pm and no one has come so who knows if it will ever get done.
I just wish we could move away from this crap. This used to be a nice area to live in until this woman and her family moved in and her drug selling son. The drug seller who had been jailed several times eventually over dosed and killed himself but it's his son who is now living with his grandmother who is the problem now. It would have been nice if the son had just stayed where he was and not move here. And the people who own the burnt out house started to deal drugs after that woman and her son moved in.
I can't even consider moving anywhere until this pandemic is under control and who knows how long that is going to be. Like this wasn't stressing us enough now we have to deal with squatters and drug users being on the property next door. I think I'll program the police non-emergency number into my phone cause I have a feeling I'm going to have to be calling it often.
I hope the rest of you aren't experiencing anything like problems with your neighbours cause that's bad enough but add this pandemic onto it and it's just about the straw the breaks the camels back kind of stuff.
Stay safe and sane!
