November is Going Fast!

It's already November and the first week of it is almost gone.  I keep trudging along and trying to get things done but never really getting everything I want to get done accomplished.  Maybe I just need to be happy if I get anything done.  I can hear me tomorrow saying to myself  "Good job you got up got showered and dressed.  Way to go!"  Or the next day saying "Brushed your teeth, good for you."  That's how I'm going to do it from now on.  I'll be amazed with myself if I get laundry done or any other chores.  And yes, I feel that lame some days.

The rain has arrived and it looks like it will be with us for awhile now.  It's not pouring all day just kind of cloudy and rains on and off all day and night.  No snow yet at our elevation but there is some in the mountain passes around us.  The temps are 5-15C depending on if the sun shows her face.

Our house feels cold and damp and no amount of turning up the furnace seems to take the chill out.  We keep our furnace at 18C in the day and 15C at night so we are used to it being cool inside.  When we go to other people's homes we struggle with how warm they are especially when they the heat is over 20C.  Seems like such a waste of money to crank your heat up so you can wear a tee shirt inside your house.  I just put a shirt on and then a hoodie and if it's really cold I'll wear a flannel shirt over a tee shirt and then a hoodie or sweat shirt.  Slippers and warm socks are a must too.

I haven't bought a single Christmas gift or even made any yet.  Usually I'm done by now and it feels so wrong to me but I don't have any money so will have to just pick things up each check.  I hate shopping like this because we live in a small town and there isn't much choice and things are sold out quickly.  If you have to wait to buy stuff you'll end up having to buy the stuff no one else wanted or was over priced.  I used to like to shop online but there is a mail strike going on right now and delivery over the border may be delayed while our postal service works out it's labor dispute.  So instead of putting all my gifts on a credit card and ordering online to make sure I get them in time for Christmas and they are what I want I am having to scavenge to get anything at all.

Now I love Christmas I really love getting gifts for people.  I love the challenge of finding just the right thing for someone within my budget.  Unfortunately my budget is nil right now so I guess it's baking for everything this year.  At least they get something even if it will be stuff they don't really need, it's the thought that counts, right?

I'm not sure how I got onto Christmas other than it's on my mind and I really am stressed about getting it done soon.  I've been pecking away at getting rid of stuff.  It feels like I never really get rid of enough stuff though.  I just wish one or both of the kids would move out cause then I could give them all the stuff we don't really need.  Some things we are holding onto for them because we have a storage locker and are already paying for it so we may as well put stuff in there.  Once the kids move out we can work on getting rid of that storage locker and use one of their bedrooms as storage space.  Or maybe work on the enclosed carport and put in proper walls and some insulation so we can store stuff in there along with the lawnmower, summer chairs and a bunch of other crap my hoarder husband won't get rid of.  How many old paint cans do we really need?  How many old picture frames should we keep now that the husband isn't painting anymore?  Can we get rid of all that old pipe and broken stuff?  Ya, he hoards stuff just like his mother.  If we had the space I wouldn't really care but we don't have enough space so why keep junk you most likely will never use?

I better get off to bed because I have to get up and do a bit of cleaning and shopping.  I have to buy something for supper that doesn't include meat because the daughter's boyfriend is coming over and he's vegetarian.  He doesn't really like salads so I was thinking it would just be nachos or soup and grilled cheese.  My culinary skills don't stretch that far and he says he's a great cook so if they want something else they can cook it themselves.

So far today I've done a great job of getting up and showered.  I also cleaned a couple of drawers out in the kitchen and sorted some of my clothes with a big pile to be donated.  Pat, pat.  And now I'm off to bed, sweet dreams cyber readers.

It will make a big difference when your kids move out. You will have way more space and money as well. Maybe it is time for a shove? :-)

Birdie I have given both of them shoves. Unfortunately the daughter is in school and is only working part time and has issues that make her moving out not such a great plan right now. The son on the other hand needs to find room mates because he doesn't make much money so he's waiting for his friends to get their acts together. It's all so exhausting.
